5 Easy Ways to Elevate Your Interiors — Even if You Rent!

If you’re looking to elevate the look and feel of your spaces, but you don’t want to do a complete overhaul – this is for you.

When you know how to style an interior using what you already have, or by making a few key decisions, you can highlight the right elements and completely transform your home.

Here are five of my favourite ways to quickly and easily elevate the look of any interior space.

1. STATEMENT PENDANTS

Lighting has a huge impact on the overall feeling of a space, and a pendant light is a great way to instantly elevate the look. The most important thing? Go as big as you can! An oversized pendant makes a statement and adds instant appeal by giving the room an easy focal point.

2. OVERSIZED RUGS

This is another one where it’s key to go as big as you possibly can – really push the boundaries when choosing a rug. If you can comfortably fit all of the furniture on the rug, even better – this will ground the space and make the room feel intentional and cohesive. If you’re uncertain about colours or patterns, go for a tonal look.

3. TONAL ON TONAL

Speaking of tonal… Paint is an easy and budget-friendly way to update your space, and you can create a more elevated look by painting your walls, trims and ceilings all the same colour – especially if you go dark.

4. VINTAGE FURNITURE

I always say that vintage furniture is the best way to add personality to your home and create unique and memorable spaces. Not only that, but it’s more sustainable, often higher quality, and tends to maintain its value over time.

5. TEXTURE, TEXTURE, TEXTURE

Texture is essential to creating elevated spaces that feel complete. If you feel like something is always missing, look for ways to introduce a variety of natural textures, especially if you’re working within a neutral palette. Hand-loomed textiles, wool throws, seagrass mats, handmade ceramics, and straw baskets are just a few of my favourite textures to incorporate into my spaces.
